Austin Robotics Featured Startup: RoboSpec and Founder Michael Seokyoung Han

Meet the engineer building the bridge between software AI and physical manufacturing.

At Austin Robotics we are kicking off a series to feature local founders right here in our community. We want to introduce you to the people building new tech, help lift their projects to the next level, and get you excited about starting your own robotics business. Today we are looking at the work of Michael Seokyoung Han and her platform RoboSpec.

Michael brings a serious engineering background to her work. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, previously researched manufacturing automation at UT TIE, and worked on the R&D team for a surgical robotics startup. Now she is applying that deep technical experience to her own product.

While she has a few friends helping out part time, Michael is the solo driver owning product development end to end.

Let us look closely at the product itself. RoboSpec is an AI platform engineered to accelerate complex manufacturing automation and robotic hardware systems. The core feature is providing real component suggestions during the design phase.

Michael noticed a massive gap between software AI and actual physical system construction. RoboSpec was built to fill that exact void. By utilizing AI, the platform expands your component selection pool and drastically speeds up the process of building physical systems.

The product is built specifically for anyone developing, updating, or sharing complex hardware systems like prototypes, pilot products, and testbeds.

RoboSpec is an AI tool that lets you bring your high level idea so it can lay out the rest of your hardware specifications. Users input a text description of their desired build and the platform instantly generates a detailed bill of materials containing real world components.

The interface actively estimates power distribution requirements across the system and allows you to manage specific part quantities before generating the final architecture. The current test version verifies these components against a limited set of manufacturers and distributors to ensure you are selecting available parts.

Head over to RoboSpec to spec your next complex robotics project.

The platform is designed for:

  1. Manufacturing fabs
  2. Robotics company R&D teams
  3. University researchers

RoboSpec is currently in beta testing. To scale up and move to the next stage, Michael is looking for a few key connections in our community:

  1. Local design partnerships to become future customers
  2. Angel investors
  3. Pre seed funding sources

If your team is working on complex hardware and wants to test a platform that speeds up component selection, Michael wants to connect. Go check out the RoboSpec website or catch her at the upcoming Austin HardTech events.
